Curious - is it possible to run a 3ware card without raid(?), instead
say you have an 8 port controller with 8 disks attached, would it be
possible to have

/dev/sda
/dev/sdb
..

To the 8th drive? Or must they be raided?

I have 2 sarges with 3ware cards, 3w 7500 and 3w 9000 .
It runs good, web managment interface and alerts are working fine.
