Tarball installs fine but one must change /usr/bin/acroread to point to the installed path. Making a .deb out of the rpm using alien will not work because of the existing acroread-debian-files which includes the above. Attempts to "force" in dpkg had the net result of zeroing out that file so had to reinstall the existing acroread5.10 packages and manually edit the /usr/bin/acroread (so why not just do that in the first place :-)? ) Installing the plugins works fine for mozilla/plugins but not for netscape/plugins-C6 because the script looks for plugins. Easy enough to replace the existing symlink. Might need to pin things down until acrobat 7 is packaged for debian. Anyway, nice new look. Hopefully, printing (more complex jobs) will work once again.
I just installed into /opt/Acrobat7.0, symlinked /opt/Acrobat7.0/bin/acroread into /usr/local/bin/, /opt/Acrobat7.0/Browser/intellinux/nppdf.so into /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/ and /usr/lib/mozilla-firefox/plugins/. After that everything worke perfectly. It even picked up most of my preferences from 5.0. -Roberto -- Roberto C. Sanchez http://familiasanchez.net/~sanchezr
