Apache2-mdm-prefork+libapache2-mod-php not working

I'm using Debian unstable, with kernel 2.6.8 (not that it really
matters, i've used 2.4.27 with the same results for this problem)...
I used Synaptic to get Apache2 and PHP. Everything was configured
automatically, but it doesn't work... When i try yo run "hello, world"
- php script, Firefox says it doesn't know what to do with this PHP
script... Mozilla said it didn't know what to do with
application/x-httpd-php, so it's an improvement :)
Everything seems alright: apache2.conf has the AddTypes alright, and
there is an php.load with LoadModule...
I've had the same problem with PHP and Apache1.3....
The exact versions of Apache are the latest found in the unstable repositories.
