mc with unicode in console

I am using unicode but mc doesn't works with it at all. In console I have to
do unicode_stop in order to work properly (in konsole hava no problems). At

http://melkor.dnp.fmph.uniba.sk/~garabik/debian-utf8/HOWTO/howto.html

I found some howto and as there says I downloaded mc_4.6.1-1.8_i386 but when I
tried to launch it got this message

mc: /lib/tls/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.3.4' not found (required by mc)

So I tried mc_4.6.1a-1.4_i386 than mc_4.6.0-8.9_i386 but the same problem. I
think this is because those were compiled against glibc-2.3.4 and debian
installed for me version 2.3.2. How can I get it work?
