I've been having optical mouse problems too. I think it has
nothing to do with USB or the system. I think it's caused by lint and hair
caught in crevaces on the bottom of the mouse. As late as yesterday, my mouse
pointer would sometimes creep up and to the left, as though it were haunted. It
would do thisat least ten times per day. Something about the way it moved after
I touched the mouse, and accelelration and deceleration, made me think of a
tension being released. I turned it over and there was a dog hair shot down some
shaft beneath my optical mouse. Unlike my first optical mouse which never had
this problem, this one doesn't have a smooth shielded bottom. Things can get
inthere. Maybe even mites and larger bugs, though I'm sure the radiation in
there must be a problem. Neither does my daughter's mouse. I pulled out the
hair and gave it a good blast of compressed air. It hasn't acted weird at all
since then. |
