artsd does not suspend, /dev/dsp busy

Hello,

Off lately, I have noticed that arts doesnot suspend and hence other processess do not output any sound as they see that /dev/dsp is busy. This happens even if I kill artsd. After killing artsd, it restarts and uses around 5MB of memory. However, when sound stops i.e. when all sound processess see /dev/dsp busy, artsd starts to use more and more memory. I have also seen it using around a 100MB.

Can someone help fix this? Thanks in advance.

I am using KDE 3.3.2-1 on my Debian Sid box.
