Applets

I'm in the process of building replacement workstations for me and my wife.
Cyrently we are using older Currently testing machines. I froze these machines
(mostly) and the end of the Gnome 1.4 cycle.

I've just loaded the latest "testing" stuff, and I'm playing around with
both Gnome and KDE. Frankly, I'm having a real hard time coming up with as
productive, and good looking an environment as I have.

The primary shortcoming, as far as I can see is in the lack of a rich
variety of applets to put on the panels. For example on my machine I have,
keyboard :LED's", Gnome foot menu. Terminal Icon (xterm), analog clock,
weather monitor, help, toolkit, dictionary lookup, CD player, xawtv
controls, sound mixer, Geyes, Galeon, system load monitor, Slashapp, and
the fish.

My wife has even more than this.

Am I overlooking somehting? re there more packages I should load, to get
more appets?

At present I'm leaning twoard KDE, as it seems more customizable than the
current generation of Gnome, or am I mistaken?
