Which kernel to use?

Hi all!

I have a 32 bit Sarge-system setup on an opteron based server. I 
currently use the kernel-image-2.6.8-1-386. I see that there is a 
kernel-image-2.6.8-9-amd64-k8 package as well. This oblviously 
corresponds to the hardware, but isn't it 64bit. Would it work with the 
rest of  (32bit) Sarge?
