You are looking for a program called xscreensaver
(http://packages.debian.org/stable/x11/xscreensaver). Try
"xscreensaver-demo" in a shell while X is running (with the proper
DISPLAY variable set) and, if installed, it should launch a daemon and
a configuration program. If the executable is not in your path locate
it with something like: "slocate -i xscreensaver | grep -i bin" and
see what binaries you can find. If it really isn't installed, install
the packages with something like (as root): "apt-get install
xscreensaver xscreensaver-gnome" and they try to configure it with
"xscreensaver-demo".
