It depends very much on the machine. I once dealt with two purportedly
identical machines from the same manufacturer delivered in the same
shipment where one was happy to use a USB keyboard during the install but I
had to dig up a PS/2 keyboard for the other one. Since I only had a brief
time to deal with them and give them to someone else, I didn't have a
chance to figure out why or to craft a useful bug report.
