Hi,maybe the waiting for carrier signal is the problem, try disabling it. I don't remember how, but if you won't figure out, somebody will tell you. I had the same problem few years ago, on windoze, where a checkbox saying 'wait for carrier signal before dialing' had to be unchecked in connection properties.
