Hi,
I'm trying to install Debian via the Knoppix method. I'm using the
instructions found at _http://www.inittab.de/manuals/debootstrap.html_.
I'm successful until I run "base-config" from chroot. While going
through the Debian Configuration ap I get to the Apt Configuration
screen. I've tried selecting both ftp and http and have tried every
server listed for the U.S. I've also tried a few in Germany. I can
reach them via web browser and have already confirmed that my DNS is
correctly configured. I even found a source via Google search that is
not included in the list and attempted to enter it manually to no avail.
Does anyone have any suggestions of something that I may have
overlooked? Otherwise the installation has gone smoothly.
I am trying to run this on an IBM x330 server, model number 8674-31X.
It has dual PIII processors.
Thanks in advance,

Hi Mark,
As your neighbor in Newton, I'd suggest the official debian mirror at
MIT as the closest. Here's the important line you want for testing
(sarge) in your sources list:
deb http://debian.lcs.mit.edu/debian/ testing main non-free contrib
Unfortunately, I can't help with your main problem other than to suggest
you actually edit the contents of /etc/apt/sources.list directly to be
sure it contains what you want. Also, check out the new debian
installer at:
http://www.debian.org/devel/debian-installer/
The list guidelines request plain text messages to the debian lists, btw.
Welcome to debian and good luck,
Ralph
