I have managed a 10 workstation lab pretty easily with systemimager. You can even set it to run as a cron job. That way, you keep one install up to date (the golden client) and then replicate it across the rest. Very basic stuff. As a possible second solution, set up a local apt-proxy and then if you choose to update your machines through an apt-get cron job, every package request after the first only goes across your local network. -Roberto Sanchez
