'DriveReady SeekComplete Error' ?

Thanks. I tried

 rm -rf /dev/dvd
ln -s /dev/hdc /dev/dvd

... but am not having success in mounting dvd and dmesg is giving me the output below
which I can't interpret. Can someone tell me what

'DriveReady SeekComplete Error' means ?

Adam Bogacki,
afb@paradise.net.nz

Tux:~# mount -t iso9660 /dev/hdc /mnt/dvd
mount: block device /dev/hdc is write-protected, mounting read-only
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/hdc,
or too many mounted file systems
This error message is new. Mounting a Pioneer dvd player - which plays CD's -
and *also* mounting a CDRW should not be a problem (allowing me to use cdrecord).

Tux:~# dmesg
