I have had my Neuros for nearly a year now, and I absolutely LOVE
it. IMHO it blows the other portable audio players out of the water
with both features and price.

As far as compatibility is concerned, it works perfectly for me. Some
people have had problems with lockups using the USB 1.1 version but
switching from usb-uhci to uhci or vice-versa usually fixed it. I
would very much recommend getting the USB 2.0 version however, since
the speed difference is enormous.

As far as sync software, I have never used Positron myself. I know
that it's out there, but I've never tried it. I use NDBM (neurosdbm.sf.net)
and it's the most amazingly perfect piece of software ever
written... not that my being a developer on it has anything to do with
that statement. :) There's also a GUI Perl-based sync manager called
Sorune (www.sorune.tk) that's gotten some attention lately that you
can check out.

But by far the best thing with owning a Neuros is the community. I
started using Linux not because it was a superior OS, but because I
believe in and want to support Free Software. I bought my Neuros
because I needed a portable Ogg player, but I love my Neuros because
of the people involved in it. The company and the community are all
really wonderful folks, and the amount of support that the company
provides to the community is astounding. They just recently released
the source for the firmware so this is really an exciting time to pick
one up. And look at me, I'm rambling again. :) So needless to say, I
definitely think you should pick one up.
