Hi,I had exactly the same problem. I posted here but couldn't get much help here. Seems like not many people have this problem or not many use openoffice here.
Anyway, I discovered the problem was, IIRC, a missing package. What openoffice packages do you have installed? I have(on Sarge though, on Sarge too the problem was the same):
