Multiple Hard Drives

Yet another question from me. I have two maxtor hardrives, but, debianisnt even showing that I have a second hard drive. I want to format thesecond hardrive to EXT3 so its compatible with the OS, but, if its notshowing up anywhere that I can see, what should I do?
