Make sure nothing has tampered with syslog/syslog-ng binaries. They get
restarted sometimes (for log rotation), so if you have memory errors or
anything else that slowly eats away what's in your disk...
What this does look like is that something is DoS'ing your syslog, the
applications won't hang if syslog/syslog-ng simply die...
