Digikam problem

  Having checked the BTS for the last two weeks, and not seeing this
problem listed, I guess I may be doing something wrong.  Therefore 
my request for help from someone that has Digikam working.

  First offi, I am running testing/unstable.  Digikan 0.6.2-4 and
digikanplugins 0.6.2-3, both out of unstable, and kernel-2.6.7 and
2.6.8. 

  My problem is that the 'Camera' tool bar option doesn't bring up
the camera selection dialog.  It _did_ on digikan version 0.6.2-2 and
digikamplugins version 0.6.2-1 before I had a huge system crash (part
hardware & part operator).  I ordered and installed sarge from the 14
CD set, and thats when the problem started.  I then upgraded to 
the testing version, which had the same problem, and then to the
current versions from unstable. I believe that I, somehow, do not have
something that digikam requires, but is not part of the depends.  I do
not run either KDE or Gnome and never have.

  I thought for 2 weeks I had a Camera/hotplug problem but found that
I can download/erase images from the camera using gtkam just fine. 

  Would appreciate any ideas from those that have Digikam running, as
it should.
