Really strange connection issue
I am using Sarge for last days. I just did a netstat
on my system and found that my "evolution" gets
connected to some other public IP on port 80!
THis belongs to www.salon.com
#netstat -pan | grep -i establi
(Not all processes could be identified, non-owned
process info
will not be shown, you would have to be root to see
it all.)
netstat -pan | grep -i esta
(Not all processes could be identified, non-owned
process info
will not be shown, you would have to be root to see
it all.)
Active Internet connections (servers and established)
tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:45798
127.0.0.1:631 ESTABLISHED1390/gnome-cups-ico
tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:45800
127.0.0.1:631 ESTABLISHED1390/gnome-cups-ico
tcp 0 0 192.168.3.22:53641
206.14.209.40:80 ESTABLISHED24332/firefox-bin
tcp 0 0 192.168.3.22:53648

tcp 0 616 192.168.3.22:53650
63.211.238.132:80 ESTABLISHED24332/firefox-bin
If i close all the applications(including evolution)
and open just one instance of Firefox and connect to
www.salon.com; and do a netstat....it shows that it
gets connected on multiple Real IPs on port 80 out of
which only one is valid(i did a dig)
netstat -pan | grep -i esta
(Not all processes could be identified, non-owned
process info
will not be shown, you would have to be root to see
it all.)

Some of the IPs are not resolvable.!
I have my system on LAN. THrough evolution i connect
to an exchange server which is not on real IP(but is
natted through firewall)
Please can anyone tell me what is happenning?
