I did a make menuconfig for my kernel configuration and then a make (make does it all in these kernel versions) so now my kernel is totally okay, and i also left the source on its place. Could you be more specific please ? Thnx! Phil.
Phil, Please don't to post :-) The Debian way of building kernels is much more efficient: http://newbiedoc.sourceforge.net/system/kernel-pkg.html Managing and upgrading the kernels is much easier when you build them into .debs. I know that when you build a kernel with kernel-package it will leave behind the correct build environment with which you can build additional modules later. That being said, I usually build my kernels in /usr/src (which is also writable by group src, of which I am a member). I end up building in /usr/src/linux-<version>/ I would give that a shot first. -Roberto Sanchez
