I lied.  PCMCIA still comes up as eth1 (dhclient and ifconfig confused
me by showing eth0 and 00:50:8B:46:28:6F together...)

I added another section to /etc/network/interfaces:

auto eth1
iface eth1 inet dhcp
	hwaddress ether 00:50:8B:46:28:6F

Now it works! :)
