In KDE, anyway, kcontrol -> Power Control -> Display Power Management seems to do the trick. I haven't had the monitor blank since I turned that off.

Already disabled.

Of course, that's useless if you're not using KDE, so that suggestion might not get you anywhere at all.

Yup, I am using KDE

The blanking that occurs on the consoles (but not xterms) can be turned of with

	setterm -blank 0


No effect.
