I've never paid Yahoo a dime, and I'm able to retrieve from pop. They even have
a page, showing one how to do it. One can also forward to another account.

Go to your Yahoo account, open up the mail area, click on 'options', once in
'mail options', click on the 'POP Access and Forwarding' link, for the
instructions.
