Sympa and postgresql

System: Woody with Postgresql 7.2.1-2woody4 and sympa 3.3.3-3.

I am trying to get sympa to work with postgresql on the same machine
but I get the following error message during the installation:

Trying to configure your PostgreSQL database ...Failed

I was not able to configure your database because I could not
connect to the database server.
Please check that your properly installed and configured
the database server. You also may have entered wrong parameters at
configure time.
Once you resolve these problems, you can reconfigure this package
with the following command:
  dpkg-reconfigure -plow sympa
Starting mailing list manager: sympa.

I answered with an empty password for sympa when asked during the
configuration because of the "ident sameuser" configuration. I have
tried giving postgres-user's password and also giving an empty
password when asked for it. It did not make any difference.

My pg_hba.conf looks like this:
local all ident sameuser
host all 127.0.0.1 255.0.0.0 md5 admins
host rtad4email <ip> 255.255.255.255 md5 admins
host rtad4email <ip> 255.255.255.255 md5 admins
host all 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 reject

I am not sure how to configure this and will appreciate some help
please.

Regards.
Johann
