Xfce4 dies instead of prompting when I click the logout button on the panel.

I use GDM and XFCE4 with the following packages installed.

ii  xfce4-diskperf-plugin               1.3-3

In the XFCE4 settings, I have requested confirmation before logging out.
This used to work, but since a week or two ago it consistently crashes
after I click the logout button in the panel but before it displays the
confirmation box. This crash puts the following in ~/.xsession-errors.

(xfce4-session:24702): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: g_object_set_valist:
construct property "type" for object `GtkDialog' can't be set after
construction
The program 'xfce4-session' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)'.
  (Details: serial 1317 error_code 8 request_code 42 minor_code 0)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
   that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
   To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
   option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
   backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error()
function.)
