wlan-ng and pcmcia-cs with 2.6 kernels?

I have a prism2 based wireless card, and I'm not clear what needs to be
done to support this when moving to 2.6 on a laptop running sid.

Instructions for building the wlan-ng module is at:

  ftp://ftp.linux-wlan.org/pub/linux-wlan-ng/README

What I'm confused about is:

- it says I need to have a kernel source package, but I'd like to move
to using kernel-image packages to make upgrading in the future
faster.[1] Will kernel-headers package satisfy this requirement?

- it says I need pcmcia_cs source code, but isn't that now supported in
the kernel?

BTW -- someone said I needed to update my modutils package so I could
switch back to 2.4 if needed? I know I need the new module-init-tools
package for 2.6. Is there another requirement (like updating
modutils)?

[1] Not that building the kernel is hard, but it's time consuming every
time I need to do an update.
