Re: /dev/cdrom is not a valid block device`

I have the same problem only mine reads
lrwxrwxrwx    1 root     root            9 Mar 22 12:48 /dev/cdrom -> 
/dev/scd0

this is running knoppix, if that makes a difference, and I'm total 
newbie. Thanks!
