Mmmm... "Reconfiguring network interfaces...SIOCDELRT: No such
process".
Then 'depmod -a' seems to fix that one.
Installing the PC down in the basement, rebooting...
YES! 'modconf' & the tulip driver did the trick!

If it wasn't for google and this newsgroup, kernel upgrading is no job
for newbies like me...
