Re: Audigy, ALSA, KDE and midi?

Yes, I have loaded a soundfont and checked alsamixer. Installed a backport of pmidi, but still no midi :-\ That is why I like to see how other people have done the setup. I googled a lot, but no real definate protocol. I used to have an SB AWE64 ISA card for which I devised a step-by-step protocol myself, including midi.

Come to think of it: strange that ALSA doesn't have a setup tool. Installing any version of Linux is a piece of cake nowadays, but adding things is still a pain.

Greetings,

Hans

Hello everyone! Who has a step-by-step guide to get an Audigy 1 card to
play midi files? I RTFMed a lot, tried a lot, but most of the time I get
stuck with something like "now you have sequencer capabilities". Then
what? When I use Rosegarden I don't get midi sound and KDE uses
Timidity, which is not what I want. I use a Woody system and I build
ALSA from source. All the other sound sources work, so I did something
right :-) Who can stretch out an experienced hand? Thank you.

Have you loaded a soundfont into the soundcard's memory?

If so, have you checked (using alsamixer) to make sure that all the
relevant sound devices are unmuted, and have their volumes up?
