I've had a continual problem with 2.6 kernels, ide-cd and k3b, so much so that 
I'm sticking with 2.4 for a while yet. For me, it's a system freeze when k3b 
attempts to scan for devices. I know ide-scsi is depreciated, but I don't 
think its replacement is soup yet.
