Teach a man to fish ... When documentation says something like that (enable the HOTPLUG option), that refers to the actual name of the option. Some of the kernel configuration UIs give a longer descriptive text rather than the proper name. With the 2.6 kernels, the config tool's configuration has moved to arch/i386/Kconfig. Search that file for the name of the parameter and you will also see what menu it is in, the descriptive phrase the config tool displays, the default setting and the "help" text explaining the option. Some of the configuration tools (I think at least the text and the qt ones) show the proper name. You can also manually edit the '.config' file in the source tree to set the option. -D -- \begin{humor} Disclaimer: If I receive a message from you, you are agreeing that: 1.
