Yes, I have postfix+sasl working.

| Do I need anything else?
Yes - libsasl-modules-plain. Also verify that the version of postfix
you are using is linked against libsasl7 and not libsasl2. ('2' is
version 2.<something> and therefore newer than '7' because that is
version 1.5)
