Isn't koffice/kmail/knode more or less a drop-in replacement for MS
Office/Outlook at this point?

I would prefer IBM earns it's money consulting in how to solve the
same problem using software that isn't utterly crufted over from a
long dead company. It's been two years since I had to use Notes as a
user and I still have nightmares about it; what a poorly designed,
slow piece of crap that is for what it does...

This is completely consistent with IBM's stance even back when they
were distributing DOS: "Who cares about the software? The money's in
the hardware and support."
