Did you change your Kernel or bootloader configuration? The number for
the root device seems to be a bit strange. If I am not mistaken, 346
means device with major 3, minor 46. Block devices with major 3 are hda
and hdb, so it should be hda46, which means you have more than 40
partitions on your first disk. Is that true? Check what partition your
root file system is on. Take a look at your boot loader configuration,
for example the root=-line if you use lilo. If it is pointing to the
wrong partition, correct it and rerun lilo. If you know what your root
file system is, tell the Kernel so when lilo starts (for example, I
would start "Linux root=/dev/hda7").
