Hi When you get "Input/Output" error, there may be a hardware error :-( Check your /var/log/messages. You can check the partition layout using gpart. http://www.stud.uni-hannover.de/user/76201/gpart/, or the deb. Look at man e2fsck, especially -b, -B and -n. HTH Jan-Marek
