Because, among other things (a) lots of kernel developers don't like it,
(b) it's still experimental in current kernels, (c) it's excessively
confusing to just about everyone wrt device names.

And (d)... it's just not necessary.  If you like it, use it, that's the
only way it'll EVER get any better, but don't force it down people's
throats as a default.

This is personal preference again, I think... gods know xinetd has had its
share of security holes, and I can't think of a good reason to use it OTHER
than its supposed greater security.
