Mozilla & /dev/dsp problems

Hi folks,

I am facing a tough time in getting a few things to work. I hope folks
would be able to help me. I did do a lot of searching around before
posting on this list.

1) I am having a tig time problem in getting java run time env on
mozilla to work.

my /etc/apt/sources.list has

deb http://www.tux.org/pub/java/debian sid main non-free

dpkg -l

ii java-common 0.20 Base of all Java pacakages
ii j2re1.4 1.4.0.99beta-1 Blackdown java(TM) 2 Run nvi
ii j2se-common 1.1 Common facilties for all Java2 S

I checked out

http://mozilla.weebeastie.net/java.shtml

there is no libjavaplugin_oji.so instead there is a javaplugin_oji.so
dunno if the name matters so did a sym link.

Now ldd of libjavaplugin_oji.so

says libxpcom.so is not found . Now this is a little wierd since
/usr/lib/mozilla has the file. so added a line in /etc/ld.so.conf and
ran ldconfig .

i have enabled java and javascript options in preferences of the
browser.

Now I am stuck. I do not know what do now. the damn thing won't work.
I don't want to download the bin files from the website since I like to
keep all the packages in .deb format.

Then there is big time problem with /dev/dsp lock ups. I get a lot of
device busy or resource not available when using mplayer. At the same
time mpg123 works just fine.

Suggestions, pointers to get this working would be just great.

thank you
regards
harshu.
