udev, which is FAR from beeing readig. latest is 009 and it is pure dev
status. devfs still works fine for me thought.

ide-scsi is sort of broken and... out of date. with the newest cdrecord
you can write driectly to the ide drive. works als fine for me here.
[and linus is searching for a maintainer for ide-scsi]

well, the only thing you need is the module-init-tools. If you have a
japanese keyboard you have to "reinit" the bar/backslash key. I had no
other troubles yet. I have a debian box running with 2.6 (only problem
is alsa and the i82x soundcard, but I am not sure who to blaim ...), and
some gentoo boxes without any troubles yet.

the 2.6.0 release is way more stable and secure than the 2.4.0 release.
thought the "must-fix-list" is quite long. So if it is a not mission
critical list, you can give it a try, its definitly worth. Else I would
wait at least until 2.6.2/3 for all the other patches/small problems to
be fixed that might come up in the next weeks. Furthermore, if the first
distros ship like a 2.6 ready package, there will be patches/fixes for
glibc, etc so they all work without any troubles with 2.6 kernels.
