arch - ppc
jabber - 1.4.2a-12 (I tried -13 as well with the same result)
libc6 - 2.3.2.ds1-10
Bingo! Upgrading jabber to 1.4.3-1 solved the problem. Sorry, I didn't
even notice that a new package was in the list..
