Make is a standard Unix tool.

There is some "info" documentation which comes with make apart from the
man page:

info make

Or, if you have info2www installed, enter (make) (including the
parentheses) into the "goto:" box

Otherwise, google for make tutorials, I bet there's quite a few of them
out there.
