Are you trying to install new software from .debs? If so this shouldn't
happen unless you're in the habit of changing between stable and
unstable or testing.
Packages in stable do not change. When there are security problems,
they patch the same version and you get that via security.debian.org,
but it will still be incompatible with your programs, it simply won't
have any known security vulns.
My policy on upgrading libc is if you don't know how to do it, you
shouldn't. It's one of those things that are alost impossible not to
screw up.
If you're downloading a lot of binary releases off the Internet, you
might want to consider using a distribution that already has more recent
versions of libc (I don't know if debian testing or unstable do) or use
statically linked binaries or get the source and compile it for your
version of libc.
