Actually the difference seems to be:

> nls_iso8859-1           2848   1  (autoclean)
> sg                     24228   0  (autoclean)
> ide-scsi                7392   1 

But I don't have any problems with programs like XCDRoast accessing the
CD, and cdrecord seems to solve it by loading the requisite modules.

lilo.conf has:-
append=" hdc=ide-scsi"

modules.conf has:-
options ide-cd ignore=hdc
pre-install sg modprobe ide-scsi
