Upgrade issue

I did a dist-upgrade on my sid box tonight, and ran into two debs that
are being a thorn in my side. The first one is
xlibmesa-gl-dev_4.2.1-12.1_i386.deb and the second is
nvidia-glx-dev_1.0.4496-5_i386.deb. Currently I have

[defiant /home/storm]# dpkg -l xlibmesa-gl-dev nvidia-glx-dev
| Status=Not/Installed/Config-files/Unpacked/Failed-config/Half-installed
|/ Err?=(none)/Hold/Reinst-required/X=both-problems (Status,Err:
uppercase=bad)||/ Name           Version       Description
ii xlibmesa-gl-de 4.2.1-11 Mesa 3D graphics library
development files [
ii nvidia-glx-dev 1.0.4496-2.1 NVIDIA binary
XFree86 4.x driver development

With nvidia-glx-dev, I know it is a dependency on xlibmesa-gl-dev. But
xlibmesa gives me the following:

[defiant /home/storm]# dpkg -i
/var/cache/apt/archives/xlibmesa-gl-dev_4.2.1-12.1_i386.deb (Reading
database ... 67881 files and directories currently installed.) Preparing
to replace xlibmesa-gl-dev 4.2.1-11 (using
.../xlibmesa-gl-dev_4.2.1-12.1_i386.deb) ... Unpacking replacement
xlibmesa-gl-dev ... dpkg: error processing
/var/cache/apt/archives/xlibmesa-gl-dev_4.2.1-12.1_i386.deb (--install):
unable to create `./usr/X11R6/lib/libGL.a': No such file or directory

I am loathe to --force-all, can someone point out where the install is
going wrong?
