HPFS access??

Newbie here (to Linux, that is).

From Debian "Woody" (on /dev/hdc), I'm trying to access OS/2 partitions on a different HDD (/dev/hda). The necessary setup *seems* to be right; it's similar to that used in getting DOS access on the same HDD. E.G.: The entry in mtab is similar.

Access to /dev/hda1 (my "C" drive = FAT = MSDOS) is setup via /drivec - and this works fine. Access to /dev/hda6 (my "D" drive - HPFS = OS/2) is setup via /drived - which fails. On boot-up, Debian complains about "89 Segmentation fault" on that HPFS partition.

Every check *I* know about shows the HPFS partition is fine. In fact, it's my OS/2 boot partition, and works!@&^|%#$@!! I have also the "LNX-BBC" Debian "business-card" CD version of Debian. It boots fine, and reads/writes all my HPFS partitions (everything on hda, hdb, and hdc!

Please, what's going on with my installed Debian? How do I fix it?
What should I record, and post, to help you help me?
