dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86 should do it.

depends on whether the XFree config is managed manually or not (it asks during install/upgrade)

if it's managed manually: look for monitor section, update the frequencies (most probably no modelines required), it's very simple. the config filename is /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 or, if it does not exist, /etc/X11/XF86Config
