Problem trying to start X-windows in a Debiam 3.0 installation under Virtual PC

I have successfully installed Debian 3.0 running under Connectix Virtual PC software on an HP Pavilion 8760C PC, with Windows 2000 as the host OS for the Connectix software – but, while it seems to work OK for most functions, including networking, at the command prompt, I am unable to get working any X11-related graphical interface.  If I type xdm at the prompt, the system tries several times to start the GUI, but it eventually gives up.  If I type startx, I get the error message “Fatal server error: no screens found” (see attached file (Xfree86.0.log).

Does anybody in this group have any clues?

Thanks,

Jaime
