To centrino owners: changing cpu freq

Hallo!

I've purchased an Acer TM290, installed sid, downloade and installed vanilla
kernel 2.4.22 and 2.4.22-ac1 patch (containing cpufreq support for centrino),
and...

...theoretically I can switch among the following cpu speeds:
- -----
root@quinipt:/# cat /proc/acpi/processor/CPU0/performance
state count: 5
active state: P0
states:
   *P0: 1300 MHz, 22000 mW, 100 uS
    P1: 1200 MHz, 20000 mW, 100 uS
    P2: 1000 MHz, 15000 mW, 100 uS
    P3: 800 MHz, 10500 mW, 100 uS
    P4: 600 MHz, 6000 mW, 100 uS
- -----

But running
echo 4 > /proc/acpi/processor/CPU0/performance

nor using 1, 2 or 3 changes the cpu's speed 8-?

I've had a look at tuxmobil.org but haven't found any answer to my problem.

Thanks!! ;)

PD thanks to all who answered my last question about battery time &
centrino ;)
