Search the Debian List Archives (http://lists.debian.org/) for this
subject being beaten to death.  Mainly, it boils down to Knoppix being
x86 only, but Debian supporting bunches of architectures.

Give Morphix (modular knoppix) a look and see if it meets your needs.
It simplifies getting the OS from the CD to the HDD.  Look here:
