I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work with a hardware RAID
array, but I don't work with RAID systems often enough to need to know
for sure.  If it does, it will copy the MBR:  You're making a
bit-for-bit copy of the entire RAID.

Generally speaking, the dd method shouldn't be used with a different
media than the one it came from.  You're probably going to want to
take a look at the Hard Disk Upgrade HOWTO[1] for some alternate
methods that might be better suited for what your trying to achieve.
